Career

French Editor and Director

Originally from Nantes (France), Steven discovered cinema through editing. As an editor, he works with directors to shape their stories.

In 2020, he joined Ateliers Varan in Corsica, where he directed his first documentary,Tyrrhenaria Ceratina.

He is now developing his first feature-length documentary, Vedúci’s Treasures, with Arinafilm (Slovakia) and Noctuelle Productions (Belgium).

Vedúci, his Slovak father-in-law, has stockpiled hundreds of reels of Czechoslovak films in his garage. A house move now forces him to decide the fate of a collection that nobody wants to inherit. With no common language between them, a dialogue takes shape as the sorting goes on. The project was selected for Dox in Vitro 2026 (Piešťany, Slovakia).

Steven Gaborieau also leads film education workshops with the Makiz'Art collective, inviting a variety of audiences to experiment with cinema, from making images to editing.
