The workshop
Introductory workshops on documentary filmmaking in Aubervilliers, offered either intermittently (on weekends and during school breaks) or as a continuous program (1 month), designed for young people.
The programme
The first introductory filmmaking workshop was organized in 2022, in partnership with OMJA, through Génération Court, and with the support of ACRIF, as part of the Passeurs d'images program in Île-de-France. Five participants from Aubervilliers and the surrounding area took part in the workshop and produced a short documentary film in Aubervilliers. The films were subsequently screened on several occasions in Aubervilliers.
In 2023, a series of events focused on documentary film is being organized, featuring [a series of documentary film screenings, includinghttps://www.ateliersvaran.com/fr/article/projections-aubervilliers-automne-2023]. A second workshop introducing documentary filmmaking is being organized as part of this series. Over four weeks, intermittently between November 2023 and January 2024, eight young people are participating in the workshop: each participant is making a short film on the theme “Avenue de la République in Aubervilliers.” The eight films produced were screened at the Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers, as well as at the Ateliers Varan. The workshop was led by Madanie Boussaïd, Dominique Pâris, Aurélie Ricard, and Ina Seghezzi. The program is in partnership with the OMJA, via Génération Court, and with the support of the Île-de-France Region (DEFFINOV - Tiers lieux program winner), Create Joy Vivendi, the Ile-de-France Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (Ministry of Culture) as part of the Culture and Social Cohesion program, SCAM, Procirep, and the Humanités, Digital et Numérique Foundation.
In 2024, a third workshop introducing participants to documentary filmmaking is being organized in Aubervilliers. The project brings together eight young people from Aubervilliers and the surrounding area, who will participate in 20 days of workshops between November 2024 and January 2025. The workshop, once again in partnership with OMJA via Génération Court, is supported by Plaine Commune, Create Joy Vivendi, ACRIF as part of Passeurs d’images in Île-de-France, SCAM, and Procirep.
In 2025, for one continuous month, five young people from Aubervilliers and the surrounding area will participate in a fourth workshop—a hands-on introduction to documentary filmmaking—organized by Ateliers Varan and OMJA. The workshop is led by Madanie Boussaïd, with contributions from Dominique Pâris, Romina Del Rosario, and Aurélie Ricard for editing. The workshop, still in partnership with OMJA via Génération Court, is supported by Plaine Commune, Agir IN Seine-Saint-Denis, SCAM, Procirep, and Culture avec la copie privée. The Mission Locale d'Aubervilliers and the Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers supported the workshop.
