The workshop
Two regional documentary filmmaking workshops were held in 2023 and 2025 in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with the support of the Tashkent Film School of the French Embassy in Uzbekistan, CFI, and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs. An editing workshop was also organized in 2023.
The programme
In 2023, a documentary filmmaking workshop was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, with the support of the French Embassy in Uzbekistan and the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. The 6-week workshop was organized with a local partner, Tashkent Film School.
A short editing workshop followed in December 2023, with the Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan, funded by the French Embassy in Uzbekistan.
A second six-week documentary filmmaking workshop is organized by Ateliers Varan and Tashkent FilmSchool in October-November 2025 with the support of CFI and the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs as part of the “Horizons Médias” project. Eight young filmmakers from Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan are participating in the workshop in Tashkent, in the new premises of the independent partner school.
